At the recent BIMSTEC summit in Bangkok, Thailand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the issues of Sheikh Hasina’s extradition and minority rights during his meeting with the Bangladesh’s Chief Advisor, Muhammad Yunus. PM Modi reportedly emphasised the close societal ties that underpin India-Bangladesh relations.

Shafiqul Alam, Yunus’ Press Secretary, claimed in a Facebook post that the Chief Advisor raised the topic of Hasina’s extradition and received a “not negative” response.
