On 27 March 2026, the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) held an urgent debate to address the devastating missile strike on the Shajareh Tayyebeh school in Minab, Iran. The attack, which occurred on 28 February 2026, resulted in a severe loss of life, with Iranian officials reporting that more than 175 students and teachers were killed.

During the session, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi delivered a forceful diplomatic response, describing the assault as ‘barbaric’ and a deliberate act of violence. He formally accused the United States and Israel of committing ‘war crimes’ and a ‘crime against humanity’, framing the incident as a targeted attack on civilian infrastructure.
